  • 400 grams Paneer (cottage cheese)
  • Refined Oil
  • 1 pc Onion
  • 1 pc Tomato
  • 4 pcs Chillies
  • 1 spoon Garlic Paste
  • 1 spoon Ginger Paste
  • Salt
  • Sugar
  • 1 tsp Coriander Powder
  • ½ tsp Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tsp Red chilli powder (optional)
  • 3-4 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

Ingredients We Need for making the Matar Paneer Recipe

  • 2 cups green peas (fresh or frozen)
  • 400 gms paneer (cottage cheese), cut into cubes
  • Refined Oil
  • 1 tomato (cut into cubes)  
  • 1 onion (cut into cubes)
  • 4 chilies 
  • 1 spoon ginger paste
  • 1 spoon garlic paste
  • Salt to taste
  • Sugar to taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
  • 2 tsp red chilli powder (optional)
  • 3-4 tsp Kashmiri red chilli powder

Before we start cooking, follow the easy steps below –

Step – 1

We need to steam the peas for 5 min and keep it aside after straining the water.

Step – 2

We Need To Make a Puree Or Paste (Masala) using

  1. Onion
  2. Ginger paste
  3. Garlic paste
  4. Tomato
  5. Green chilli
  6. Salt 

Now, Let’s start making the Dhaba Style Matar Paneer Recipe.

  1. Heat oil in a pan. 
  2. Add chopped onions and saute for a while.
  3. Add ginger and garlic, sauté for a minute. 
  4. Add diced tomatoes and green chillies.
  5. Add a pinch of salt (it helps the tomatoes to get cooked quickly) .
  6.  Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes or until the tomatoes are mushy.
  7. Now, let the mixture cool.
  8. Blend it into a smooth paste.

Step – 3


  1. Heat oil in a pan or kadhai.
  2. Add the puree or paste (we made earlier)
  3. Add kashmiri red chilli powder, turmeric powder, cumin powder, coriander powder and mix well.
  4. Cook until the colour changes from light to dark.
  5. As the mixture gets thick and colour changes, add warm water to the paste.
  6. Mix everything nicely and add the steam peas into it.
  7. Add salt (if needed).
  8. Cover and cook it until it comes to a boil.
  9. Add the paneer cubes into it and cook for 2-5min .
  10. Turn off the flame and add  kasuri methi.
